  1. Write how you understand Eben Moglen's argument. Paraphrase it. If you don't understand why this is important for your life. Please articulate your confusion as best as you can. Incoherence is it's own punishment.

  2. My understanding of Eben Moglen`s argument is that no matter what we do, there will always be someone "listing to what we talk about" which eventually will lead to the fall of America as we know it today, much like a roman empire. In my opinion this is a wild assumption, considering the time distance, and political geomap. Roman empire was the only empire at the time (excluding ancient China of course), and their fall was due to the widespread of the land, that they could`t rule. Today, America, as the world police stands against Russia, China, India, Brazil, EU which are as powerful in economic matter as is the USA. And considering a recent government shutdown, one bald move by China, which is to relase all of their foreign exchange reserves in US dollars, and US economy will fall along side with military which would be left without funds. So considering a current state os political, economy and military power in the world, there are a couple of empires, and everybody is listing to everybody, just recently there was a post on reddit with intel, that China is shipping special WiFi chips in almost everything electronic that they produce, whose sole purpose is the hijack the WiFi routers passwords turning virtually every device into a microphone. To sum up, because it is late, I hate to say this, but I think at this point there is no turning back, USA was dumb enough to get cought using illegal wiretapping but the reality is that every country does that to some extent. So, my solution? - Media blackout. There might come a point in the next decades, that we get sick enough to actually refrain ourselves from using any technology whatsoever, but is it really possible?
